TORONTO?-?

Some things never change.

For the past 192 years Toronto?s annual Orange Parade has graced the city?s streets, making it North America?s longest consecutively held annual parade.

Yesterday was no different.

This year?s edition set off from the Moss Park Armoury and proceeded via Queen Street to Bay Street, north on Bay Street to College, east on College to Yonge Street, south on Yonge Street to Shuter Street and east on Shuter Street before returning to the Armoury.

The members were led by the County Master, Mark Aiken accompanied by Grand Lodge representatives and the Derry Flute Band.

As an act of remembrance, wreaths were laid at the Old City Hall Cenotaph by various branches of the Orange Association, to show respect for all Canadian men and women who have paid the supreme sacrifice in both past and present conflicts.

A feature of the gathering was the new banner of Vimy Orange Lodge No.2697 from Whitby.

The painting on the banner depicts the Vimy Monument.

This lodge was originally formed in September, 1917 a scant five months after the famous battle of Vimy Ridge and is still active today.
