Ed Lee loves being the center of news media attention.
It looks like Mayor Ed Lee is at it again.
Last week, my colleague J.K. Dineen wrote a brilliant blog post about Lee's uncanny ability to scoop the world with San Francisco business news, especially when it involves commercial real estate developments.
Today, Matier & Ross report in the San Francisco Chronicle?
that Lee is conferring with San Francisco supervisors about a long-awaited deal to approve California Pacific Medical Center's? long-delayed $1.7 billion Cathedral Hill hospital campus, the victim so far of city politics and union ire.CPMC, part of Sutter Health, has long tangled with unions, particularly the California Nurses Association?
and the National Union of Healthcare Workers. Meanwhile, the city wants Sutter to contribute huge amounts of money over many years to low-income housing, charity care and other programs in order to win approval for the giant new hospital complex at Van Ness Avenue and Geary Boulevard.Late last week, sources told the San Francisco Business Times that an announcement could come early this week. Stay tune for details -- and keep an eye on Ed Lee.
Chris Rauber's beats include health care, insurance and the wine industry for the San Francisco Business Times.
